چکیده

The purpose of this work is to investigate and evaluate the level contamination naturally occurring radionuclides in environmental soil samples collected at a place from West Kirby using gamma-ray spectroscopy. Broad Energy Germanium (BEGe2825) detector has ability detect gamma-rays range 3 keV-3MeV. This offers very good resolution, low noise performance almost ideal Gaussian shape our analysis. Under depth interest 0 – 48 cm, total six spectra were measured. From known values energies, calibrated curve was plotted. analysis, mean activity concentration uranium-238, thorium-232 potassium-40 obtained are 6.7 ± 0.1 Bq/kg, 5.6 0.1Bq/kg 398.2± 8.2 Bq/kg found (5.37 0.30- 8.86 ±0.40) (4.37 0.31- 8.72 ±0.35) (384 19 416 21) respectively. Man-made americium-241 cesium-137 concentrations 4.3± 14.5 0.3 (BDL: 5.95±0.32) (6.66 0.35- 29.2 ±1.5)

Determination of Primordial Radionuclides in Natural Samples Using HPGe Gamma-Ray Spectrometry

Distributions of primordial radionuclides in soil and vegetables were investigated using high-purity germanium gamma-ray spectrometry. Gamma-ray spectrometry is one of the most accepted and widely used techniques for the detection and analysis of radioactive materials for a wide range of activity. Important properties of the employed gamma-ray detector were also determined to ensure the accurac...
